On 02 May 2015 (Saturday), I attended the ‘Connecting Brands and Bloggers’ meet organized by Blogmint. Initially, I was a tad apprehensive since I hadn’t heard about Blogmint before and wondered whether attending would be fruitful or not but gladly, every minute was well utilized!
Blogmint entered the digital market at an opportune time, amidst exponential growth of digital media and blogging industry.
In India, Blogmint is the 1st influencer marketing platform, an initiative of TO THE NEW Ventures, offering bloggers and brands a completely automated platform to connect, organize and participate in various campaigns. Blogmint connects with bloggers, vloggers (video bloggers) and micro-bloggers.
The team is headed by Irfan Khan, the CEO.
The Blogmint Event
The team was especially organized for technology bloggers but I did come across some fashion and beauty bloggers.
In the beginning, we had Irfan Khan on the dais talking about the growth of influencer marketing as a vetted way used by online audiences to take decisions.
Being an active member of the digital marketing sphere since 2008, this wasn’t a new idea to me. The core potential of blogging lies in the ability to connect and network with audiences and brands.
Panelist of Blogmint Bloggers
Irfan’s keynote address was followed by a panel discussion with some of the influential bloggers: Rahul Prabhakar, Gaurav Jaggi, Jitendra Vaswani, Anurag Ajmera and Jaideep Khanduja.
He is the technical writer evangelist of the South Asian community, promoting technical communication not just as a job but rather an excellent career choice. Along with promoting the personal benefits of being a technical writer, he continues to promote writing quality, project management, and encourages new writers to learn new technologies and tools.

He is a quite an effervescent blogger and a very diplomatic person, something everyone got to know during the event. A person offering balanced perspectives, his stories on blogging failure is motivating for newcomers.
He is a multi-niche blogger, running a lot of blogs. The best thing is that his whole family blogs!
The panelists shared their blogging journey, the growth visible in the blogosphere and what’s its future, and fielded some questions from the audiences.

The blogger panelist session was soon followed by the brand panelist.
This was an extremely beneficial addition since we had one-on-one experience of understanding what brands require from bloggers. The discussion was enlightening.
A basic problem area is quantifying efforts. How does a brand understand the efforts put in by any blogger in creating and promoting a piece of content? This is something which can’t be automated and needs to be understood on a case-by-case basis.
Personally, brands should engage with bloggers personally and asses their contributions.
The Blogmint Quiz & Networking
Here’s my favorite part.
Blogmint arranged an excellent quiz contest. The contest started with 7+ teams and ended with my team being the winners.
The winning picture:
The winning prize: G-Shock watch
Every attendee also received a freebie: branded Blogmint cup.
It was nice to network with fellow bloggers.
